A survival horror boardgame with miniatures. No zombies here, just classical horror with all kind of evil creatures and a lot of fun.

Shipping news: the journey begins.
about 7 years ago – Thu, Apr 20, 2017 at 12:17:08 AM

This is a quick update about shipping.

The manufacturer sent the games to the forwarding company responsible to transport them from China to EU. Pandemonium left the warehouse last week and Atlantic forwarding group took control of the pallets. The ship set sail yesterday and it's expected to arrive to Barcelona port in 3 to 4 weeks, as usual.

These are the ship details:
Vessel, Voyage XUTRA BHUM, HK715R
POL, ETD Shantou (CNSWA) | 2017-04-19

As we wanted to accelerate the shipping to USA, Canada and Australia, the games traveling to those countries have been sent to Hong Kong, where a different company will take care of the shipping and fulfillment.
Asia will receive their games directly from Hong Kong.

This is the best way to achieve that all our backers receive their games at the same time, worldwide.

But that means that all non-EU backers who got add-ons, will receive them separately, as we are shipping games and add-ons from different places (games are in China and add-ons in China and Spain).
We need to receive all components in our warehouse and pack them together, before sending add-ons internationally.
This means that all EU backers will receive game + add-ons at the same time, and non-EU backers will receive the game earlier and the add-ons a little bit later.

However, this may be a month later or so, we don't expect add-ons shipping to delay too much. Remember that all stretch goals come inside the game; add-ons are not necessary to play the game, we designed them to be an extra (awesome components, of course).

Please note that this is much more expensive and troublesome for us, but allows to distribute the games more quickly. After all the production delays, we wanted to do everything in our hands to accelerate shipping.

Now I see the importante to plan add-ons better during the kickstarter campaign. They have a great impact in production (costs and delays), but they have a critical impact in shipping.

Keep an eye on that ship: there goes all our work and money and your games :D
This is coming to an end and Pandemonium is coming!

I promise to show you more content in our next update. Today was "shipping time", but I know images are always better welcome.

Our manufacturer confirmed that the game is finished. They are packing miniature add-ons and wraping the boxes.
They said that a reservation of the boat is made and the boat depards China the 15th of April. If that's true, next week, Pandemonium will be traveling home, at last.

Remember that we always tell you what the manufacturer tells us. I hope this is our last delay, regarding production.
You'll receive the game, almost a year later, but in time for summer. Then, we'll be able to rest and you, hopefully, enjoy the game.

Thanks again for your patience and support. I'll be uploading more images to our social network and update as soon as the boat is on its way and we have more videos and images of the game.

Remember to update your shipping adress if you moved recently or plan to move before summer.

See you soon!

The end of the road.

Hello, we're back again with some news.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer wasn't able to finish on time, but they told us it's just a matter of days. They encountered some unnexpected issues with cards and rulebooks and had to fix them, which delayed the end of production some days. However, I've personally talked with them today and this is the current status of the game:

Miniatures, dice and plastic components: 100% finished and produced.
Cards: 100% finished and printed.
Boxes: 100% finished and mounted.
Tile maps ad tokens: 100% printed, but "linecutting" them.
Rulebooks: 100% printed, but cutting and gluing them.

Add-ons are 100% finished since two months ago, as we produced them locally. Except the artbook, as we were waiting for the painting guides, but they arrived last week (more on that later).

Cards were done by a different manufacturer and then they sent the finished components to the warehouses, where the rest of the game is being produced. This slowed the process a little bit.
Also, the rulebook was planned as a booklet tied with staples, but that exposed some trouble with the bookbinding and then was changed to glued "comic book" style, which took one more week of work. This is more expensive and implies an improvement in quality; luckily the manufacturer cover the extra cost, as the delay is not our fault.

The manufacturer promised to send me some images from the finished components tomorrow. I'd have waited having them to update today, but some people were asking and I felt I needed to inform you about the game status. Don't worry, I'll upload these images as soon as I get them, via facebook/twitter.

In 2-3 days time the complete proof will depart China as urgent DHL package, and, if everything is ok, next week everything will leave China by boat.
As you know, It's not the first time we receive "official" dates that are delayed again and again, but I'm confident that this is the last one. I must be positive about this. We're almost there, fellow gamers, we're almost there...

We received another painted miniature by Obenji. He did a great job and we now can close the artbook with a new and last painting guide.

I'll send the artbook to print this weekend and the expected delivery time is 14 days. This is the last add-on left to produce and we have high hopes that it looks gorgeous.

Last but not least: we're locking backer adresses and will send the shipping information to our local fulfillment centers.
If everything progresses as planned, most backers should start receiving their games on May. So, if anyone needs to move or change adress, please, contact us directly through email or by kickstarter.
IMPORTANT: make sure your adress is correct and remember to add your phone number, as most postal services need it to plan delivery with you.

End of next week I'll update with all the news and hopefully Pandemonium will be sailing the seas :)

Thanks for your support,
Marc

Almost there...
about 7 years ago – Sat, Mar 04, 2017 at 10:27:41 PM

This will be a quick update.
We've been in contact with our manufacturer and they maintain their word. If that's true, next friday production will finish and everything will be arranged for the games to leave China.

It's been a long way. It's interesting to see how much the game evolved and changed since we created it three years ago.

Some time ago we approved the layout and printing proofs, but we're still waiting for the final box to arrive. It seems it should arrive early next week through DHL, but... I will immediately update once it does, as promised.

Working in the videogames field, where project deadlines are vital, I'm really confused and disappointed with all the constant delays that surround the production of tabletop components.
I've learned a lot during this process, but it's unlikely that I work in a new tabletop game in the near future. I need to recharge my batteries :)
However, some creators contacted me to collaborate in their projects, designing miniatures and scenography components. We're planning some collaborations here and there, so this is most probably what The Game Forger will be doing this year.

And maybe, taking some time developing an indie videogame on our own. We'll see... and I'll keep you informed, as always.

Thanks for your support and stay tuned: Pandemonium is finally traveling home really soon.

Bloody Valentine
about 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 15, 2017 at 10:14:18 PM

I hope you enjoyed a happy (bloody) Valentine's day. Luckily, Pandemonium have some appropriate components ready to use in these occasions.

But of course, when we think of Valentine's day we think of this:

Now, for the good news. Our manufacturer is working again, chinese new year is over and everyone is back to work. They maintain their shipping date, so officially everything is advancing as promised. Now, I'm waiting confirmation from DHL, 'cos they need to send the finished box here to review.

These have been two quiet weeks, waiting for news from the manufacturer. I've been practicing some sculpting, trying new things and improving my miniatures.
We discovered online printing services like Shapeways when working on the kickstarter campaign and I still think they are a great way of prototyping your 3d designs at a really affordable price.

While we wait for the game to arrive, I want to talk a little bit more about some Pandemonium special features. Introducing the Evil One.

I know this guy...
I know this guy...

As you know, Pandemonium is a cooperative game, but we developed a semi-cooperative mode where a player takes the role of the Evil One and plays as "master" against the rest of players.
Semi-coop mode is simple and easy to play; it adds replayability to the game, as it uses the main mechanics in a slightly different way. However, remember that Pandemonium is designed as a cooperative experience and you should play most of the chapters that way.
Also remember that the game includes an elimination (versus) mode, because, you know, some days you want to "make friends" :D

Do that evil thing you do...
Do that evil thing you do...

Each Action made by the Evil One uses a certain amount of Evil, which is deducted from his Evil bar. This is the list of Actions and their cost in Evil:

Cost 2 points of Evil:
.Summon one creature (rolling D12).
.Take a Grimoire card.

Cost 1 point of Evil:
.Placing a Cursed Trap token in a space.
.Placing a Cursed Barricade token in a space.
.Placing a Portal token in a space.
.Roll the Evil Die.
.Poltergeist: move a token on the board one space in any direction.
.Teleportation: move a creature from one Portal to another Portal on the board.
.Special Attack: -1 Life point and +1 Fear point to one player.
.PowerUp: add +1 to a creature’s value, including: Fury, Life, Mobility or Terror.
.Sacrifice: remove a creature from the board to retrieve a number of Evil points equal to its Fury value.

The Evil One can increase his Skill Tree by one space when a character dies and when a character fulfills a Pact.

Grimoire cards offer the Evil One special actions, which he can use at any time of the game. These cards are secret, only the Evil One can see them.

This is just a quick summary of the Evil One rules and characteristics. Will you play as (anti)hero or villain?

We're happy to announce a new crossover with George Rubio games. He launched a reprint of the great Slaughterville and two of Pandemonium characters will be appearing there to wreak some havoc: the Stripper and the Hero.
Meanwhile, we'll create a special chapter for Pandemonium based on the Slaughterville universe and characters, completely free for you to download and add to the Survival Diary. It will be a lot of fun to cross these two universes and I hope you enjoy the new adventure.

And of course, we've talked about doing something special when Slaughterville 2 is launched. That should be soon, so stay tuned!

Next update we should have the finished game in our hands.
The end is nigh!

See you again and thanks for your support!
